Wellington Street Beach

Located on Jellicoe Drive to the eastern side of the Waikato River, close to the Hamilton CBD and within the Hayes Paddock Historic Heritage Area, the unique location offers a rare sand beach setting alongside the Waikato River offering the public a place to bath and relax.

The upgrade provides a safer recreational environment with enhanced amenties and landscaping. Ecological and water sensitive issues were adressed through teracing, native planting as well as rain gardens to capture water run off. The landscaping also offers a improved sightline from the road to the beach, helping to keep families safer as they enjoy the space.

Walkspace’s involvement in the project included the supply of our highly successful E_06 Accessible picnic sets as well as our BN_05 bins, DF_02 Accessible Drinks Fountain and bespoke wall mounted seating. 

The space is now complete, ready for the public to re-engage with the Waikato River.
