Located within Christchurch’s central city, the new fully covered Te Kaha stadium is now complete and open for business. The stadium is the largest ever project undertaken by Christchurch City Council. The stadium, a final anchor project,  adds to the ongoing rebuild work undertaken over the last 12 years within the city center, adding vitality, enhancing future development, and re-establishing Christchurch as a sporting and cultural centrepoint. The public realm surrounding the the stadium includes community based event spaces and fanzones further promoting local engagement and use of the space beyond the major events that take place.

Working alongside lead landscape designers Landlab and subcontractors BG Cooke and Complete Landscape Solutions, Walkspace supplied bespoke seating throughout the outer perimeter of the stadium. Utlising a galvanised subframe construction with FSC Purple Heart Hardwood slats the seating offers large format seating in a wide variety of forms and layouts to provide seating prior to and after large events for the wider public.  Walkspace’s BR_02 bike racks,  BN_02 Twin Recycling Bins and our ever popular DF_02 Drinking Fountains were also employed throughout the stadium and surrounds, encouraging alternative forms of transport to the stadium, as well as encouraging longer term stays.

Also employed, Walkspace's  E_01 & E_02 seating and bench’s catalogue furniture provides further rest points along the adjoining streets and laneways.
